Ben Doak made his Celtic debut at 16 years of age and was even given a taste of the Glasgow Derby, being brought on against the Rangers as a substitute. It was pretty clear that Ange Postecoglou was a fan of the youngster. But ultimately, it was not enough to convince him to stay, as he would end up making the move down South to join Liverpool for a fee believed to be around £600,000.

His form has not taken a dip since then either. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Doak has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 6 appearances for Liverpool youth teams this season till now.

On the other hand, he continues to impress at the youth level for Scotland as well and it is pretty clear that he is a top class talent. It would not be a surprise if he breaks into the Liverpool first-team set up in the not too distant future.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, talking about his decision to leave Celtic and join Liverpool, Doak said:

"“At first, the decision to leave wasn’t an easy one. But once I went down and saw the standards and the facilities, it’s top level.“At the same time, Celtic is the club who made me the person and player I am. I owe them everything.“I still speak to a lot of the boys and keep up with the results.”"

It is safe to say that Doak has taken a bit of a jump into the unknown with his move to Liverpool. At Celtic, it was pretty clear that he had a path into the first-team, as he was getting minutes even as a 16-year-old.

On the other hand, he will have to play his way into that sort of a position at Liverpool and it is safe to say that the competition will be much tougher in Merseyside than it was in Glasgow.

Now, it remains to be seen if he can do it. Doak has certainly backed himself and his talent by making this move. Whether it will pay off or not, only time shall tell. Let’s see what the future holds for the former Celtic youth star.
