Celtic have a very solid squad at this point of time but one area which is slowly starting to become one of concern is centre-back. Cameron Carter-Vickers recently picked up an injury and it is unclear when he will make his return. On the other hand, Carl Starfelt has been struggling with injuries on and off for the past several months now, since the end of last season.

We saw the combination of Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh against St Mirren and it became pretty clear that they are not ready to play together, as they were physically outplayed by the opposition on the day and conceded more goals than the Hoops had done in the past six league matches combined.

Thus, it is safe to say that questions are already being raised about whether Celtic are a bit thin at centre-back. They might have an incredible chance to take care of that though.

Jason Denayer is still  a free agent at the moment, after leaving Lyon and surprisingly not finding a club during the summer. And the Hoops should consider a move for him.

Celtic should consider signing Denayer as a free agent

While it might have been quite a while back but Denayer did spend an impressive loan spell at Celtic from Manchester City.

And many fans actually wanted the club to sign him on a permanent basis back then, although it did not end up happening.

He has proven his quality over the years though, playing quite a bit of football for the Belgian national side, one of the best on the planet over the past decade or so.

On the other hand, he is still just 27 years of age and should have plenty of football left in the tank. Of course, one would have expected a player of his quality to be picked up in the summer for nothing but he remains a free agent.
