When Celtic appointed Ange Postecoglou as manager, most fans expected him to bring in a number of players from Australia during his time at Parkhead. That has not happened yet though. Instead, if there is one region that he has targeted, it is Japan, bringing Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi to Glasgow.

Under the management of Postecoglou, Celtic have signed only one Australian player and that too on a free transfer – Aaron Mooy.

It must be pointed out that Tom Rogic did become a first-team regular again last season and the club were linked with a move for Riley McGree, before he decided to make a switch to Middlesbrough instead.

And now, Celtic have recently been linked with another Australian player in Garang Kuol. He is also believed to be wanted by clubs like Barcelona and Newcastle United though, and as a result, if the Hoops are able to sign the teenager, it has the potential to be a transfer masterstroke on their part.

Kuol turned 18 years of age just a week back and thus, it is safe to say that he is far away from being the finished article. But his early appearances at the senior level have blown people away.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 10 appearances for Central Coast Mariners till now and has played 199 minutes of football in total.

Those are very impressive stats, especially for someone who just turned 18. On top of that, Kuol has also been involved in the A League All Stars match and has earned his first call up to the Australian national team as well.

Thus, it goes without saying that the future seems bright for Kuol and Celtic should keep their eyes open.
