Celtic have showed an incredible eye for picking out talent since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. That has been one of the primary reasons why they have enjoyed so much success on the pitch despite coming off of a disastrous 2020/21 campaign and losing key first-team stars like Scott Brown, Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie in the same window.

The dust might have just settled on the recent summer transfer window, during which Celtic added several new faces to their ranks, but the club are already being linked with players that they could sign in January.

And one player that they have been linked with recently is Garang Kuol of the Central Coast Mariners, who might be the biggest talent in Australian football right now.

Kuol just turned 18 years of age this month and according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 10 appearances for Central Coast Mariners till now, while playing 199 minutes of football. But Newcastle United could be set to hand Celtic a blow in the race to sign him.

Newcastle United could hand Celtic massive transfer blow in the race to sign Kuol

As reported by beIN Sports, Kuol is close to clinching a move to English Premier League club Newcastle United to cap off a wonder week.

Of course, that could prove to be an excellent long-term signing for Newcastle United if it does end up taking place but then it will also end Celtic’s hopes of signing arguably the most exciting talent in Australian football for a long, long time.

Let’s see how things go from here. It must be pointed out that Kuol has already featured for the A League All Stars against Barcelona and been called up to the senior Australian national team squad as well.
