It is no secret that Celtic have enjoyed a lot of success under the management of Ange Postecoglou. When the appointment had been made in the summer of 2021, not a lot of fans were happy and understandably so. The club had been chasing Eddie Howe for months but that pursuit had failed. And the former Australian national team boss had arrived instead of him, despite having never managed a top flight club in Europe.

Naturally, there were many who doubted whether he was up for the task and many who predicted that he would be gone by Christmas. Football is a funny game.

Around a year on and Postecoglou has guided Celtic to a Premiership and League Cup double, the Champions League group stage and in the process, has become one of the most popular managers that the club have had in a long time.

Of course, the narrative has changed since last year and many rival fans have claimed that Celtic had splashed the cash in order to win the league. But here’s the most impressive part, the club actually turned a profit.

As reported by Celtic’s official website, the Hoops turned a profit before taxation of £6.1 million for the year ended 30 June 2022.

That makes Celtic’s success under the management of Postecoglou even more impressive, considering the magnitude of the task that he had been facing upon arrival.

The club had finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership and trophyless in the 2020/21 campaign. On top of that, they had also seen several key players leave like Scott Brown, Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Jeremie Frimpong and others. Thus, they had to replace almost the entire starting XI under the management of Postecoglou, and yet, the results improved and they tasted success once again.
