Celtic suffered a disheartening 2-0 defeat away at St Mirren, which has allowed the Rangers to get firmly back into the title race. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are now two points behind the Hoops despite having suffered a 4-0 defeat against them at Parkhead just a few weeks ago. Hopefully, the result in Paisley will serve as a wake up call to many.
Fortunately, there is some good news for Celtic coming out of the weekend, as it looks like Ange Postecoglou’s future is settled for the time being.
The Celtic manager was heavily linked with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion recently, after Graham Potter had left the Seagulls to take the Chelsea job. And when asked about it in the media, Postecoglou did not clearly rule it out either.
But now Brighton & Hove Albion have announced on Twitter that they have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as the club’s new head coach.
Postecoglou’s Celtic exit rumours put to rest as Brighton & Hove Albion appoint new manager
It is safe to say that Celtic fans will be hoping that Postecoglou remains the manager of the club for as long as possible. It is hard to imagine that anybody else could have done the job that he has done ever since arriving at Parkhead last summer, when the team were coming off of a disastrous 2020/21 campaign that had seen them finish trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers.
This time around, they are in the Champions League and actually taking the game to teams in Europe’s elite competition.
Yes, Postecoglou received quite a bit of criticism for making several changes and leaving way too many key players out in the game against St Mirren, which Celtic ended up losing, but there is very little doubt in the fans’ minds that the manager will make sure that they bounce back from this result after the international break.
