Things are not looking good for the Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the moment. They came into the game against Napoli on the back of a 4-0 Glasgow Derby defeat vs Celtic followed by a 4-0 defeat on their return to the Champions League against Ajax. And now, they have had to taste defeat once again, although this time around, they conceded a goal less as Napoli beat them 3-0.

On the other hand, Celtic were left disappointed having just drawn 1-1 vs Shakhtar Donetsk, a game that the Hoops should have scored three or four in, if they had taken their chances on the evening. Still the performance was a good one overall and gives hope for the future.

What does the future hold for Van Bronckhorst at Ibrox though? His side have lost the past three games and conceded 11 goals in total, while scoring none in return. He might just be walking the managerial tightrope now, just some months after guiding them to the UEFA Europa League final.

It is safe to say that the club’s supporters were not too pleased having lost again and in bad fashion. And they let their displeasure be known on Twitter, with Glen Kamara being someone they were particularly unhappy with:

It is safe to say that neither sets of fans would have been happy with the result on the night but at least Celtic supporters will have been impressed to see their side competing at this level and actually being the better side.

On the other hand, the Rangers do not seem that they are capable of doing that and are actually suffering pretty heavy defeats, and three games on the trot as well.

Their next game is against Dundee United and if that does not go their way, Van Bronckhorst’s future will be well and truly up in the air.
