More often than not, a draw away from home in the Champions League is seen as a positive result for Celtic. Not on this occasion though, as the game between the Hoops and Shakhtar Donetsk ended 1-1 in Warsaw. Based on the performance and chances though, Ange Postecoglou’s side should have easily scored three or four goals.

It is impossible to criticise the effort of the players on this occasion as they tried to find the second goal till the last second. But it just was not to be on this evening, as they struggled to put the ball into the back of the net despite having several chances to do so.

This is the second straight Champions League game that Celtic have been found wanting. They were wasteful in front of goal against Real Madrid as well.

In the past, Postecoglou has admitted to have been disappointed by the game against Real Madrid, but on this occasion, he cut a much calmer figure. While speaking after the match in a video posted on Twitter by Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, the manager said about the draw:

"“We’ll get our rewards if we keep playing that kind of football and showing that sort of commitment.”"

While the result feels like two points dropped more than one gained, it is also important to put it into perspective.

This Shakhtar Donetsk side just got a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig last week. So they are no pushovers, by any stretch of the imagination.

A win away from home would have been a fantastic result for Celtic, but they are still in the mix when it comes to making it into the knockout phase of the competition.

Naturally they will need to brush up on their finishing when they come up against RB Leipzig, because a defeat in either of those games would be a hammer blow to Celtic’s chances of making it to the next round.
