All of the football games in the United Kingdom, including Celtic’s, were cancelled last weekend due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The Hoops were scheduled to face Livingston but that has now been postponed. It also meant that there were some question marks surrounding the game against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek as well.

Celtic are set to travel this midweek to Warsaw in order to take on Shakhtar Donetsk in their second game of the Champions League campaign and it looks like that game is set to go ahead.

There were some doubts regarding the status of the game but Celtic have now broken their silence regarding the Shakhtar Donetsk match.

The club tweeted out that supporters can watch the Shakhtar Donetsk vs Celtic game together in the Kerrydale Bar. This is the first public acknowledgement that they have made regarding the match this week, which pretty much suggests that it will be taking place as scheduled.

Celtic finally make announcement surrounding game against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League

This is an incredibly important game for Celtic to say the least. While their performance against Real Madrid might have been very promising, the fact of the matter is that they lost.

If Celtic are to make it out of their Champions League group then they need to start picking up points as soon as possible and the game against Shakhtar Donetsk is especially important in that regard.

Shakhtar Donetsk did manage to surprisingly win their opening game against RB Leipzig by a 4-1 scoreline. But at the same time, the German club were going through a terrible start to the season and ended up sacking their manager, Domenico Tedesco, after the result.

The Hoops will be hoping that they are able to get something out of this game. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for Ange Postecoglou’s side to make it through into the next round of the competition.
