Ange Postecoglou has done quite the job since joining Celtic in the summer of 2021. A lot of eyebrows were raised at the appointment back then, even from the club’s own supporters, and understandably so. The manager had enjoyed a lot of success in Australia and Japan, but was an unknown in European football.

It did not take him long to turn things around at Celtic though. He guided a side that had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league, to a Premiership and League Cup double. In the process of doing so, he became a cult figure amongst the support as well.

Unsurprisingly, his performance at Celtic seems to have caught the eyes of clubs down South and recently, the former Australian national team manager has been linked with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion, after Graham Potter joined Chelsea.

Earlier suggestions had been though that Postecoglou was not part of the four-man shortlist that Brighton & Hove Albion had drawn up. But now, as reported by The Times (via The Sun), the Australian is under serious consideration to succeed Potter.

Massive twist in Postecoglou to Brighton & Hove Albion saga as Celtic manager continues to be linked with exit

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Celtic and one can only hope that all the speculation will not end up distracting the team.

There have been suggestions in the media that Postecoglou will not abandon his work at Celtic to go and join Brighton & Hove Albion. Fans will be hoping that those claims are accurate.

Brendan Rodgers did leave Celtic in the middle of the season to join Leicester City some years back and as a result, it is not hard to understand why supporters get nervous when another of their top managers is linked with a move to the Premier League. Hopefully this story will be different.
