Celtic star ruled out for the month in major injury blow
Things have been going well for Celtic recently. They sit five points clear at the top of the Premiership table and put up a spirited performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League, taking the game to the European champions and only being let down by their finishing. The Hoops have been dealt a major injury blow amidst all this though.
Carl Starfelt missed the entire pre-season due to an injury he had picked up while with the Swedish national team. He would return and establish himself beside Cameron Carter-Vickers, before getting injured again, this time in the game against the Rangers.
Unfortunately for Starfelt, this injury could keep him out of action for a while as well, in what is another major blow for the Swede, in what has been a stop-start season.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Starfelt does not require surgery for the knee injury he suffered against Rangers but the defender will be out of action until the next month. He is believed to be desperate to return in time to take part in Celtic’s game against Motherwell at the start of October.

In Starfelt’s absence, Moritz Jenz has been playing as Celtic’s centre-back, having been brought in this summer on a season-long loan from Lorient.
There is a certain calmness about Jenz’s game and if he gets a decent run in the first-team, the possibility of him establishing himself as the starting centre-back beside Carter-Vickers is very real.
That just goes on to show the squad depth of this current Celtic side that they can lose a key player like Starfelt and still not be weakened significantly. Now, it remains to be seen if Jenz can outperform the Swede and make the starting position his own.
