Celtic are extremely strong when it comes to goalkeeping, through the different levels at the club. The senior team has Joe Hart as the number one and the Englishman has done a wonderful job since signing from Tottenham Hotspur. On the other hand, the Hoops signed Benjamin Siegrist this summer as a free agent and he seems to be the back up option. They also have Scott Bain in their ranks.

On the other hand, Celtic have a couple of brilliant goalkeepers coming through the youth ranks at the moment as well, in the form of Tobi Oluwayemi and Josh Clarke. Both of them are very highly rated and could end up being first-team stars in the future.

One very highly-rated youth goalkeeper has left the club though, in the form of Rory Mahady. He spent almost a decade at Celtic and confirmed the news of his departure on Instagram. He is expected to join Leeds United now.

Back in August, Football Insider reported that Leeds United had agreed a deal to sign Mahady. Manchester City were also believed to have been interested in the youngster’s signature. This just goes on to show how highly he is rated.

One of the biggest problems that Celtic have faced in recent years is their inability to hold on to some of their most highly rated players.

We have seen clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Leeds United themselves, swoop in and sign some of the most highly rated Celtic youngsters even before they are able to make a mark on the first-team picture.

It goes without saying that the situation is far from ideal and is one of the key reasons why Celtic have not been able to bring through many youth players into the first-team set up in recent years.
