With Graham Potter announced as the new manager of Chelsea FC, Brighton & Hove Albion have started their hunt for a new head coach. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a potential move to the club, who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
Having been beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Zagreb on the opening night of the Champions League, Chelsea shockingly decided to part ways with Thomas Tuchel. Though, most fans were not satisfied with the decision of the club’s new owners, to let go of the man who had guided them to European glory a couple of seasons back and guided the team through turmoil at the end of the campaign, when the entire club’s future was up in the air.
Celtic also swallowed a bitter pill in their Champions League curtain-raiser, with Real Madrid beating the Hoops 3-0 at Parkhead.
However, Postecoglou’s job at Celtic is as safe as it can be. He is viewed as the leader of this side and the man who has guided them back to the top after the disaster that was the 2020/21 campaign. Thus, it goes without saying that the Brighton & Hove Albion rumours have left a lot of supporters worried.
Celtic hero dismisses Postecoglou exit rumours
Following the speculation concerning Postecoglou’s potential departure from Celtic, Chris Sutton gave his verdict on the matter on Twitter and described a move to Brighton & Hove Albion as a ‘downgrade’:
Ange Postecoglou will be linked with managerial jobs in the Premier League and I’m sure will eventually go down south but he’s only just got started at Celtic and he’s building something special. He certainly wouldn’t downgrade to a club Brighton’s size just yet… why would he?

The Hoops have made a great start to their new domestic campaign, winning all of their six games, including the one against Rangers with a 4-0 margin. That has left them five points clear of their Glasgow rivals.
And even though they lost their Champions League opener, the performance on the night against European champions, Real Madrid, was admirable. The Hoops went toe-to-toe with Carlo Ancelotti’s side for a long time and should have been a two or three goals up before they conceded.
Thus, it has created a belief that this Celtic side could go into the knockout rounds if they can perform like this against RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk as well.
