The Celtic Park awaits a mega event of European significance on Tuesday night, with the Hoops welcoming the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid on the opening matchday of the group stage. For the first time in many years, the Parkhead faithful are going to be hearing that anthem under the bright lights and are hoping that the team can produce a special night.

Celtic’s aspirations regarding the forthcoming UEFA Champions League campaign took a slight hit as they were placed in a highly competitive group following this year’s draw. Along with Real Madrid, they are keeping company with RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk in Group F.

Of course, the boost gained from the 4-0 victory in the Glasgow Derby will be a huge positive going into the competition. Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s men should be looking to take full advantage of the home atmosphere as well.

The game against Real Madrid will be hugely important for the rest of Celtic’s campaign on so many grounds. Thus, it will be interesting to see how Postecoglou lines his side up against the European champions.

Joe Hart

Hart has made a fantastic start to the season after cementing his place in Postecoglou’s first team last season. Now, just like Celtic, he is on the verge of making a return to the Champions League.

Hart, who has kept five clean sheets in six matches so far this season, is worthy of a start on Tuesday evening as he knows all the traits required to guide a team on a bigger stage like the Champions League. He is the experienced campaigner Celtic need if they want to become the dark horse of a lengthy race in the competition this time around.
