When Celtic welcome Real Madrid to Parkhead, one can expect the atmosphere to be absolutely electric. Not only are the Hoops making their return to the Champions League after several years but they are also coming off of a 4-0 win over the Rangers in the Glasgow Derby this weekend. And there are few opponents, if any, bigger than Los Blancos. It is the recipe for a legendary European night for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Yes, Real Madrid will be considered as huge favourites to walk out of Parkhead with a victory but then, Celtic are no strangers to upsetting giants at Parkhead. They have done so several times in the past.

And the kind of football that they are playing right now could potentially give a few worries to the Real Madrid backline, who for all of their star players, have conceded in every game so far this season. The biggest advantage that Celtic will have on the night though is the Parkhead atmosphere.

It looks like the opposition players also recognise the magnitude of the task awaiting them. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Vinicius Jr said while speaking to the press on Real Madrid’s YouTube channel:

"“Obviously, it’s a great team. I am looking forward to playing here, I’ve heard good things, and I’ve heard that there is a lot of pressure playing in this stadium. There is a great atmosphere.“I saw at the weekend, these guys (Celtic) won 4-0 in a big derby. So, it’s going to be a tough challenge for us, but hopefully, we can come away with the three points and get our first victory in this season’s Champions League campaign.”"

The Brazilian, who scored the winner in last season’s Champions League final vs Liverpool, went on to add:

"“It’s a very strong team. They run hard and are very physical. To be honest, I haven’t seen many of their games. So, I probably should watch a few more before tomorrow’s game.“But, we are going to turn up and play our normal game, and it’s the other team who needs to adapt to us, we are not adapting to anyone.”"

Celtic will not be adapting their style for anyone either, as they have stuck with Postecoglou’s intense, high pressing football through the manager’s run at the club.

It will be interesting to see if it works at this level though as Celtic have not played Champions League football in years and this is a bit of a jump into the unknown.

Is this team at that level? There is only one way to find out. And we will find out pretty soon, when Real Madrid come visiting.
