Celtic completely destroyed the Rangers on their way to a 4-0 victory in the first Glasgow Derby of the season at Parkhead. Just like last season, the Hoops scored three in the first half of the game itself and appeared to take their foot off the gas after the break. A mistake at the back was capitalised on by David Turnbull though, to score the fourth this time around.

In five attempts, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has only managed to beat Ange Postecoglou’s side on one occasion, losing thrice and drawing the other one. This result leaves them five points behind in the Premiership already and we are just six games in.

It is safe to say that the Rangers fans were not happy with how things turned out on the day. We saw the majority of them leave Celtic Park way before the final whistle was blown.

And they did not hold back on social media either, and let their unhappiness be known on Twitter:

Rangers fans meltdown as Celtic swagger their way to 4-0 victory at Parkhead

It is just September and no league has ever been won this early on. But it is never too early to start laying down the foundations though and as far as starts go, this has been as good as anyone for Celtic.

They sit five points clear at the top of the Premiership table and have been perfect till now, winning all their six league games.

On the other hand, the Rangers had already dropped points coming into the first Glasgow Derby of the season – a 2-2 draw against Hibernian. And this defeat will not only cost them three points but will be a major psychological blow as well.

There were many who believed that Van Bronckhorst had figured out how to get the better of Postecoglou’s side. It is pretty clear that is not the case.
