Giovanni van Bronckhorst makes brutal admission after losing to Celtic
Celtic were flying high after the first Glasgow Derby of the season, with Ange Postecoglou’s side winning 4-0 at Parkhead against the Rangers. Similar to the previous campaign, the Hoops played Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side off the park in the first half itself, going into the break 3-0 up. But this time around, they would add a fourth in the second half as well. Liel Abada scored a brace while Jota and David Turnbull got one each.
It might not have been a completely positive day for Celtic, with Kyogo and Carl Starfelt picking up injuries, but overall, the fans must be delighted with what they saw on the park.
On the other hand, this was a hammer blow for the Rangers. They came into the game two points behind and leave trailing by five. And the manner of defeat must have been even harder to take.
Van Bronckhorst might have a great record in Europe for the Rangers but in the league, he has failed to beat Celtic in four attempts. And as reported by Glasgow Live, while speaking with Sky Sports after the game, he said:
"“Of course we prepared for these moments that they were able to be dangerous and we weren’t ready.“That is very disappointing because you want to play a good game, of course you can have goals against you but not in this manner. That’s not the way we need to concede goals.“The most important thing is we weren’t alert and that’s why you gave two goals away and the fourth goals as well. That is already three goals you could have avoided that’s what makes it easier to get a result.”"

With Celtic now five points clear at the top, this will give the Hoops a lot of confidence that they can retain their title.
Of course, this is just September and we cannot get ahead of ourselves but at the same time, the foundations of a successful league campaign have been already put in place. Now it is just about building upon it.
This is not the end of huge games at Celtic Park this week though, as they will now welcome Real Madrid in the opening game of their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign, and you can expect Parkhead to be rocking on that occasion for sure.
