Celtic have enjoyed a very good transfer window without a shadow of a doubt. The Hoops managed to keep hold of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers on permanent deals while also adding several new faces to a squad that won the Premiership title last season. On the other hand, there have been quite a few departures as well, on loan and on permanent deals.
Overall, it does feel like Celtic have been successful in strengthening their squad and that is exactly what one would expect considering the fact that they are in the Champions League group stage this time around, and have been placed alongside Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.
In the transfer window, it has felt like Celtic have been able to sign most of the players that they have been seriously linked with. But they just have not been able to pull off the signing of Dylan Reid.
The club had failed to sign him earlier in the summer but had come knocking once against for a second attempt. As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic have walked away from a deal for Reid while St Mirren are believed to be exploring the possibility to loan him out.
Celtic have walked away from deal for long-term target
Celtic had even agreed a deal with St Mirren earlier in the summer for Reid but appeared to fail to convince the player to move to Parkhead. Rumours have suggested that the second time around, they have not been able to agree a revised fee for the youngster.
Reid is a 17-year-old defensive midfielder, who has already made a few senior appearances for St Mirren and is very highly rated.
Other than Celtic, the Rangers as well as clubs down South have been linked with Reid but it looks like he won’t be leaving St Mirren on a permanent basis this summer.
