A lot of Celtic’s focus has been on letting players leave over the past couple of weeks or so. We have seen Christopher Jullien leave on a permanent basis after failing to break into Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans while Albian Ajeti has completed a loan exit. Mikey Johnston also seems to be on the verge of joining Portuguese club, Vitoria Guimaraes, for the season. There could be more to follow though.

It has been well-documented already that Celtic are open to offers for James McCarthy, who has failed to establish himself at Parkhead since joining on a free transfer last summer. But it looks like the Hoops are ready to let two more midfielders go as well.

As reported by Football Scotland, Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson could both depart either permanently or temporarily.

Shaw joined the club last summer from Sheffield Wednesday and has spent time on loan at Motherwell in the past. On the other hand, Robertson has come through the youth ranks at Celtic and has been out on several loan spells already, and has never managed break into the first-team plans at Parkhead.

It is not hard to see why moves away from the club might benefit both Shaw and Robertson, as it does not feel like either of them will get regular playing time at Celtic. The Hoops have a pretty impressive midfield at this point of time, having brought in Aaron Mooy and Sead Haksabanovic this summer while a move for Oliver Abildgaard also seeming to be on the verge of completion.

Both are in their early 20s though and at this stage of their careers, they need to be playing regular football in order to develop.

Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to find them a new home, on a temporary basis or on a permanent deal.
