Celtic have two quality options up top in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis. Both have started the season in spectacular fashion, almost scoring for fun, and the biggest problem that Ange Postecoglou has at the moment is finding a way to get enough playing time to both of them.
At the same time though, one cannot overlook the fact that both have had their fair share of injury problems since arriving at Celtic. Daizen Maeda can play through the middle but has not looked great in that role, and Albian Ajeti seems to be on the fringes of the squad at the moment.
Thus, signing another striker before this summer window closes might not be a bad idea at all, although the Hoops are quickly running out of time to do so.
One player that they have been linked with in this window is Ferencvaros and Moroccan international star, Ryan Mmaee. As reported by the Daily Record, a last gasp move is on the cards for the frontman.
Celtic could make a last gasp attempt to sign the Ferencvaros striker
Mmaee enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for Ferencvaros last season.
He has not scored this season till now, but even then, that does not seem to have ended Celtic’s interest in the player.
Now, it remains to be seen if they end up making a firm move for him or not over the next couple of days.
A lot could end up depending upon the situation of Ajeti though. It is believed that the Swiss striker wants to leave and has a few options as well, but he has not been convinced by the offers that he has received till now.
This has been a busy summer transfer window for the Hoops and it might not be over yet.
