Celtic have been linked with a long list of players over the course of the summer and to their credit, the club have appeared to get deals done for the ones that they were most heavily rumoured with. Of course, the most important deals of the window were completed early on, as they turned the loan deals of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent.

Other than that, Celtic have also brought in new players like Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist and Sead Haksabanovic on permanent deals and Moritz Jenz on a season-long loan from Lorient.

There are a few interesting names though, that the club had been heavily linked with but did not end up signing. One of them is Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder, Edouard Michut.

It was believed that Celtic were set to launch a transfer bid for Michut but after signing Haksabanovic, that seems unlikely. On the other hand, the PSG youngster seems to be headed for Sunderland, who are currently in the English Championship.

Sunderland are close to signing rumoured Celtic target from PSG

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, PSG are now finally closing on Michut deal with Sunderland after resolving issues on new clauses. The player will fly to the UK in the next hours.

Thus, it looks like Michut is on the verge of completing a move to Sunderland and any chances that Celtic had of signing him, even in future transfer windows, are now off the table.

While considered to be a very talented attacking midfielder, who has already played first-team football for PSG, it is believed that Celtic did not want to meet the transfer fee that was required to sign him from the French giants.

The club must be quite content with their options in the position though. On top of Haksabanovic, they also have Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull capable of playing there.
