Sead Haksabanovic’s transfer to Celtic has gone a bit under the radar, simply because of the fact that it came right before the UEFA Champions League draw, where the Hoops were drawn in the same group against Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk. On top of that, the first Glasgow Derby of the season against the Rangers is not far away either.

One has to think that that is not a bad thing though. Haksabanovic is expected to take some time to get up to full fitness, as he was training on his own before coming to Celtic. Thus, not getting the media spotlight might do him well, during his settling in period at the club.

The style of football might not be completely foreign to Haksabanovic to be honest. He had joined West Ham United as a teenager, and while that did not go as well as he would have hoped, the Montenegro international did play quite a bit of football at the youth levels in England.

Haksabanovic has shed some light on what Ange Postecoglou has said to him and it looks like the manager has plans. As reported by Sky Sports, the new Celtic signing said:

"“I spoke to the gaffer and the plan that he has looks very good for me.“We spoke fluently and it felt good. He likes the way I play and he thinks I fit in the system he wants to play. We spoke about how he sees me and how I want to play and it went well.”"

Haksabanovic reveals what Celtic manager has told him

Haksabanovic was one of the best players in the Swedish league before his move to Rubin Kazan last summer. The Russian club were believed to have shelled out a transfer fee in the region of £6 million to sign him.

It looks like Celtic have had to pay only a fraction of that, after a poor season in Russia for the Montenegro international and it had also become clear that he was not interested in staying with the club.

Now, it remains to be seen how he does in Celtic colours and whether he is able to fulfil his potential.
