Celtic got a staggering 9-0 win away from home against Dundee United. Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada both scored hattricks, while Jota, Josip Juranovic and Carl Starfelt got in on the act as well. Ultimately, it was a huge victory for the Hoops and will go a long way in helping their goal difference, which could come in handy at the end of the season. It won’t do their confidence any harm either with games against the Rangers and Real Madrid coming up.

Celtic might have won the Premiership as well as the League Cup in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, but when the manager arrived last summer, the consensus was that his sides got better in their second season.

That is an exciting thought for sure, and we might have gotten a glimpse of that in the huge win against Dundee United. Fans will be hoping that it is a sign of things to come.

Also, many have already started to question whether this Celtic team is better than the one managed by Brendan Rodgers. Jim Spence tweeted:

Is this Celtic side under Postecoglou really better than Rodgers’ one?

It is safe to say that this Celtic team is terrific but it might be a bit too early to compare it to the side that went undefeated under the management of Rodgers and was a treble-winning machine as well.

We need to take a bit more time before coming to any conclusions, at the end of the day, it is still just August. Come the end of the season, the Hoops might win a treble, or they might go trophyless.

The signs are looking bright for them though and if they can continue performing like this, Celtic might very well be on the path to their second straight league triumph and spring up a few upsets in the Champions League. As far as those comparisons go, they can only be done accurately in hindsight and not in the moment.
