Celtic have had an eventful transfer window to say the least. Their most important task was to make sure that Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers remained at the club, and they were able to do that, signing them on permanent deals from Benfica and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. On the other hand, the club have added fresh faces like Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist, Moritz Jenz and Sead Haksabanovic to their ranks as well.

Of course, there are players who they have missed out on too. And it appears that one of them currently plays in the German second division.

Arminia Bielefeld’s Robin Hack has made a very strong individual start to this campaign. The club got relegated to the second division last season though and as a result, the former German youth international is expected to depart.

It looks like Celtic were interested in him but Hack said no to a transfer. FC Basel seem to be in the running to sign him instead. Florian Plettenberg tweeted out:

German player turned down chance to move to Celtic

Hack is enjoying a great start to his 2021/22 campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 7 appearances till now for Arminia Bielefeld this season.

Also, it looks like the 24-year-old could be available for a transfer fee in the range of €1 million to €1.5 million. The former German youth star can play in multiple positions as well.

He seems to be in a similar kind of a situation to Jota’s before moving to Celtic, as he was tipped for superstardom while coming through the youth ranks but had not quite hit the mark at the senior level.

Thus, it is not hard to see why Celtic might be interested in a player with that profile. But they have signed Haksabanovic, who in many ways, is quite similar. Thus, it does not feel like fans will be losing sleep over Hack turning down a move to Parkhead.
