Many Celtic fans got what they wanted, when the Hoops were drawn against Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League group. Of course, the defending European champions will be a very difficult team to play but then, this is what this competition is all about. The other two teams that the Bhoys will come up against are RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk.

This is a pretty difficult group to say the least, as all three of their opponents have experienced success in Europe in recent years, which Celtic have not for a while. But at the same time, it does feel like Ange Postecoglou’s side could have a chance to qualify for the next round, if they are at the top of their game.

The toughest test without doubt will be presented by Real Madrid, the 14-time European champions.

At the same time though, it looks like Real Madrid manager also realises that it will not be an easy task to come to a place like Glasgow. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said [@MovistarFutbol]:

"“There will be complicated environments, and it will not be easy to play in Glasgow, in Leipzig. We have to respect the group just as our opponents respect Real Madrid.”"

Ancelotti makes admission about facing Celtic in the Champions League

It goes without saying that Celtic fans will have already started counting down the days till when Real Madrid come visiting Parkhead in the Champions League.

While it might be a daunting task facing Postecoglou’s side, it is nothing that cannot be achieved. Back in 2012, Celtic had managed to beat Barcelona at Parkhead, and one would argue that that team was better than this current Real Madrid side.

That match is talked about to this day and what better what to celebrate its 10-year anniversary than by creating a new European memory by beating Barcelona’s eternal rivals, Real Madrid, in the Champions League. Postecoglou’s side can certainly do it if they are on the top of their games. Bring it on!
