Celtic star has been ruled out against Dundee United
Celtic will be hoping to keep their great start to the season going with a win over Dundee United. The Hoops have won all four of their league games till now, which no other Scottish club has, meaning they sit at the top of the table, two points ahead of the Rangers. Of course, it is just August and way too early to care about what the points table looks like.
It is never too early to lay down the foundations of a successful campaign though, and that can be only done by winning one game after the other. This has been an exciting week for Celtic already, as the club were placed in a Champions League group with Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk while also confirming the signing of Sead Haksabanovic.
Haksabanovic arrives from Rubin Kazan for a transfer fee believed to be around €2 million, while the Russian club are believed to have shelled out around €6 million to sign him from IFK Norrkoping last summer.
It will be very interesting to see how Haksabanovic fits into this side. But Celtic fans will have to wait a bit longer to see him in action for the Hoops, as he has been ruled out of this weekend’s game. As reported by Football Scotland, when asked if the Montenegro international was in line to debut against Dundee United, Ange Postecoglou told Sky Sports:
"“No, he won’t be [ready for the weekend].“We’ll do some work with him, but it’s great to have him in and great to have him playing with the group. I think he’ll be a great asset to us with what’s ahead.“[He’s a] quality player, at a good age for us, we’ll get him up to speed first and hopefully he’ll be involved over the coming weeks.”"
New Celtic star won’t feature against Dundee United this weekend
This should not come as a surprise to anyone as Haksabanovic was believed to have been training on his own, before joining Celtic.
Thus, it might be a while before we see him making his debut in a Celtic shirt, but it might very well be worth the wait.
Haksabanovic was tipped for superstardom as a youngster and even joined West Ham United as a teenager. He is still 23 though and has plenty of time to fulfil that potential. Hopefully, that will happen in Celtic colours.
