Celtic have made a great start to their Premiership campaign. While they might not have been at their blistering best yet, the Hoops have gotten the job done on all four occasions that they have taken to the pitch. No other team in the league has, and as a result, they sit at the top of the table, two points ahead of the Rangers, who could only manage a 2-2 draw against Hibernian.
Of course, this is only August and there is nothing to celebrate, but it is never too early to start laying down the foundations of a successful league campaign.
A club like Celtic is expected to compete for every domestic competition though and they will be kicking off their League Cup campaign away at Ross County in a week or so.
Celtic have already faced Ross County away in the Premiership this season, and ended up coming out with a 3-1 win. The match was much closer than they would have wanted though and the Bhoys will be hoping for a much easier trip this time around. They have been handed a boost in that regard.
Ross County duo will not play against Celtic after being handed bans
As tweeted out by Sky Sports Scotland, Jack Baldwin and Ross Callachan have accepted two-match bans after being charged by the Scottish FA compliance officer for tackles against Kilmarnock. As a result, they will miss the upcoming games against Rangers and Celtic.
It goes without saying that this is a blow for Ross County. Both Baldwin and Callachan had played the full 90 minutes against Celtic when the two sides met earlier in the season.
Of course, this should not affect Celtic’s preparation, who must go into this game ready to take on the best version of Ross County, in order to avoid an upset and an early elimination from the League Cup.
