Celtic find themselves in a very good spot right now. The club have won their first four league games of the season and are sitting at the top of the Premiership table with a two-point lead over the Rangers. This is in direct contrast to last season, when they had lost three of their first six league games under the management of Ange Postecoglou, and most people had written their chances off already.
We all know how things turned out after that, with Celtic lifting the Scottish League Cup and Premiership, thereby securing themselves a guaranteed spot in the Champions League group stage as well.
The Hoops must be keen on impressing in Europe’s elite competition, as they make their return after several years. As a result, they continue to strengthen their squad, with Rubin Kazan’s Sead Haksabanovic expected to be their latest signing of the summer.
On the other hand, there could be some players heading for the exit door as well. We saw Christopher Jullien join Montpellier recently. And now, as reported by Football Scotland, reports in Spain suggest that newly-promoted second division side Racing Santander are ready to table an offer for Albian Ajeti.
Struggling Celtic star could receive offer from second division Spanish side
Celtic had signed Ajeti from West Ham United in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. It is safe to say that things have not gone as they would have envisioned at that point of time.
Ajeti made a bright start and quickly scored five goals in the Premiership, and was averaging a goal every 47 minutes in the league at one point.
Things have gone south for him since then, and at the moment, he is nowhere near the starting XI. In fact, with Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis in sensational form, it is hard to see him get even cameo appearances of the bench.
Thus, a move away would be the best step for everyone involved. With around a week left in the summer transfer window, let’s see if it ends up happening or not.
