Albian Ajeti arrived at Celtic with high expectations in a £5 million transfer deal from West Ham United. While it had not worked out for the Swiss striker in England, he was brilliant before that, during his time at FC Basel. Thus, hopes were that he could rediscover that kind of a form in the Hoops.

It began gloriously as well, as it looked like Celtic had pulled off a transfer masterstroke. Ajeti did not take long to score his first 5 goals for the club and at one point of time, was averaging a goal every 47 minutes in the league. He would end up suffering an injury early on in his time at Parkhead though and it has been downhill since then.

Ajeti is nowhere near Ange Postecoglou’s first-team plans at the moment. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 17 appearances for Celtic last season and played 552 minutes of football, scoring 3 goals and providing an assist.

Thus, a Celtic exit might be the best step for him and it looks like there could be a possibility of that happening as well. Rumours have emerged that Racing Santander have made contact for Ajeti but any deal could be complicated due to the other offers the Swiss striker has, although he is interested in playing in Spain.

Spanish club have made contact to sign Ajeti from Celtic

With just a little over a week left in the summer transfer window, it is safe to say that if Ajeti is to complete a move away from Celtic, he has to do it quickly.

There seems to be very little chance of him getting regular playing time, with Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis in stunning form while Daizen Maeda can play through the middle as well.

Racing Santander currently play in the second division of Spanish football and have not made a great start to the season, losing both their games till now.
