Celtic’s transfer bid for defender has been rejected
Celtic have some incredible depth in defence right now. Cameron Carter-Vickers has been solid as always, since joining from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal. Carl Starfelt has spent a lot of time out injured and only returned recently, but his absence has not been really felt, with Stephen Welsh and Moritz Jenz, on loan from Lorient, stepping up. On the other hand, the Hoops are stacked in the full-back areas as well.
Josip Juranovic and Greg Taylor seem to be the starters right now, while Anthony Ralston and Alexandro Bernabei are very able cover, although we are yet to see much of the Argentine till now.
It looks like Celtic might already have an eye on their defensive future as well though, and are trying to bring Queen’s Park FC’s 16-year-old left-back, Cameron Bruce, to Parkhead.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, both Celtic and Rangers have had bids rejected for Bruce. The 16-year-old was given a two year deal by Queen’s Park just months ago. He is also being tracked by major Premier League clubs down South.
Celtic have had transfer bid rejected for defender
It is safe to say that Bruce is one of the most exciting young prospects in Scottish football right now and if Celtic are able to sign him, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of the Hoops.
Celtic have had a tough time holding onto their best youth prospects in recent years. The most recent example is Ben Doak. He made a couple of appearances for the senior team at 16 but has moved on to Liverpool since then and is already making an impression at the youth level there.
That is one area where Celtic will need to improve, as the club have not been able to bring through a lot of youngsters to the first-team in recent times.
