Most of the rumours around Celtic at the moment have been about potential arrivals, with Sead Haksabanovic looking close to swapping Kazan for Glasgow. But silently, it looks like the Hoops have made progress in terms of outgoings as well, and one player in particular, appears to be closing in on a Parkhead exit.

Centre-back has been a particular area of strength for Celtic this season. Even though Carl Starfelt has only returned from an injury, the presence of Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh meant that the Hoops have not really struggled. In fact, the Swedish international might now have a fight on his hands for a place in the starting XI.

One man who has gotten completely lost in the shuffle though is Christopher Jullien. The Frenchman is the second most expensive signing in the history of Celtic but right now, finds himself as the fifth-choice centre-back at the club.

That might not remain the case for long though, as a Parkhead exit seems near. As reported by L’Equipe, Jullien should arrive this Tuesday in Montpellier for his medical examination.

One would hope that Jullien is able to pass his medical exam with Montpellier. The Frenchman has had his struggles with injuries in recent years.

Jullien struggled with fitness issues at the start of 2020/21 campaign and then ended up getting badly injured towards the end of 2020.

That would end up keeping him out of action for over a year and even after returning, he could not break into Ange Postecoglou’s plans and has made only one competitive appearance for Celtic under the manager, that too as a substitute.

Thus, a move away from Celtic might be the best step for all parties involved at this point of time. He had come close to a move to Schalke earlier in the summer before it fell through. One can only that we don’t have to see a repeat of the situation with Montpellier.
