Celtic have started the 2022/23 campaign in brilliant fashion, in direct contrast to how things were just a year ago. The Hoops had lost three of their first six league games under the management of Ange Postecoglou last time around and people had already started to raise questions about him. They have not lost a Premiership match since then and made it four out of four this season with their 2-0 win vs Hearts. It also sent them two points clear at the top.
And now, it looks like there is more good news for Postecoglou as well, as he has been handed a massive Celtic backroom boost.
Celtic assistant manager, John Kennedy, had been linked with the managerial job at FC Midtjylland earlier. Rumours suggest that he would consider it if an offer was on the table. But now, it looks like the long-time coach could be staying on at Parkhead.
As reported by B. T., Albert Capellas is interested in the vacancy and was at a meeting last week to discuss the job with FC Midtjylland’s director, Claus Steinlein.
It looks like Celtic coach is set to remain at Parkhead
Capellas has tremendous experience and has worked in coaching roles at clubs like Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund in the past. He is currently the academy manager at Camp Nou.
On the other hand, this is not the first time that Kennedy has been linked with a move away from Celtic, but it has just never quite come off for him. While a potential move to FC Midtjylland is not completely off the table, it is starting to look extremely unlikely.
This will come as a boost to Postecoglou for sure. Kennedy has been at Celtic a long time, both as a player and as a coach, and as a result, his experience of the club and Scottish football as a whole is invaluable.
