Ange Postecoglou surely must have been delighted to see Celtic take a two-point lead over the Rangers, with their 2-0 win vs Hearts. Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring in what was a brilliant first-half performance for the Hoops but produced only one goal. The second half display was comparatively disappointing but the Bhoys held on to their lead before doubling it deep into stoppage time through Giorgos Giakoumakis.

On the other hand, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side could only manage a 2-2 draw against Hibernian this weekend. Thus, a gap has opened up in the Premiership table by the fourth matchday this time around.

There seems to be some more good news on the horizon for Celtic as well. Rumours have been doing the rounds that the club are closing in on a move for Sead Haksabanovic and now, Postecoglou has appeared to have confirmed them.

Postecoglou is known to keep his cards close to his chest so this is surprising coming from him. As reported by Football Scotland, when asked if a deal for Haksabanovic was “getting closer”, the Celtic manager told Sky Sports:

"“Yeah I think that’s a fair assessment – it’s getting closer.”"

Postecoglou surprisingly confirms Celtic transfer rumour

Haksabanovic currently plays for Rubin Kazan but is almost certain to leave this summer. He is believed to be training on his own at the moment.

It was just last summer that Rubin Kazan were believed to have shelled out a transfer fee in the region of £6 million to sign Haksabanovic from IFK Norrkoping, but it has not worked out for the Montenegro international at the Russian club, for a variety of reasons.

He is still very highly rated though and Postecoglou has made a bit of reputation for getting the best out of underperforming players and signing those who fit his system perfectly. Thus, Celtic fans should be excited about the prospect of the club signing the 23-year-old this summer.
