When Celtic brought in Moritz Jenz on a season-long loan from Lorient, a lot of fans thought that that was the end of the club’s transfer activity for the summer. They had done quite well too and looked ready to defend their Scottish crown, as well as make their return to the Champions League after several years.
But since then, Ange Postecoglou has hinted that Celtic will remain active in the transfer market and could make a signing or two more if the right players become available. And it looks like things might be heating up at Parkhead once again.
The Celtic rumour mill has been dominated by Sead Haksabanovic in the last few days, as it looks like the Hoops are chasing the Rubin Kazan star on a cut-price deal. On the other hand, the name of a defensive midfielder emerged yesterday as well, in the form of Hajduk Split’s Jani Atanasov.
Anthony Joseph delivered a late night Celtic transfer update surrounding both players, as it looks like the club are close to agreeing a deal for Haksabanovic while there is interest in Atanasov although no formal talks have been held. He tweeted out:

Sky Sports man has delivered a late night double Celtic transfer update regarding Haksabanovic and Atanasov
Haksabanovic could prove to be a smart signing on the part of Celtic. It was just last summer that he joined Rubin Kazan for a transfer fee believed to be around £6 million. But it looks almost certain that he will be on the move this summer.
He is believed to be training on his own, and the club got relegated from the Russian top flight as well. Thus, there is an opportunity to sign him on a bargain fee.
The rumours involving Atanasov are promising as well, as Celtic are very light in defensive midfield, following the exit of Nir Bitton at the end of last season and Ismaila Soro on loan this summer.
