Celtic fans must have been delighted with what they saw in the game between Rangers and Hibernian, as the Edinburgh side scored deep in order to make it 2-2, leading the Ibrox club to drop two points. That means that when the Hoops face Hearts, they will have the opportunity to go top of the table.

This result comes after Rangers also let a lead slip through their fingers in their UEFA Champions League play-off first leg against PSV at Ibrox. Thus, this has not been an enjoyable few days for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

And things will go from bad to worse, if Celtic manage to win against Hearts, to go two points clear at the top, this early on in the season.

It is no surprise that the Rangers fans were not happy with the result and they let it be known on Twitter:

Of course, Ange Postecoglou’s side cannot afford to take their eyes off the ball. They still have to get past a very difficult Hearts side, who did give them problems last season and even managed to beat them on one occasion.

Thus, the Hoops must remain focused on winning their game in hand and even if they win, it will be a small battle won at best. No league has ever been won in August, but on the other side of the coin, it is never too early to lay down the foundations of a title triumph. Every point counts.

Celtic must be confident of their chances going into the game as well, coming off of a 5-0 victory away at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock. Let’s hope that they can turn on the style at Parkhead as well and get all three points against Hearts.
