Celtic striker completes move to Championship club
Celtic are pretty stacked when it comes to options at striker at the moment. Kyogo Furuhashi seems to be the first-choice up front in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI and he has justified his place in the team by scoring consistently. On the other hand, Giorgos Giakoumakis has been brought off the bench, and to be honest, he deserves a lot more playing time than he is getting at the moment. The Greek star has been incredible since the turn of the year.
Now, one has to admit that both have had their injury problems and spent significant time on the sidelines last season. Beyond them, Daizen Maeda is capable of playing through the middle as well. And then there is Albian Ajeti, who was expected to depart this summer but is still at Parkhead.
One striker who has moved out on loan though is Johnny Kenny, who was signed from Sligo Rovers in January.
Queen’s Park have announced on their official website that Kenny has signed with them on a season long loan.
Celtic striker has completed season long loan move to Championship club
Kenny was playing regular first-team football during his time at Sligo Rovers and was impressive during this pre-season for Celtic as well.
But despite that, it is hard to see the 19-year-old Irish striker getting regular first-team football at Celtic anytime in the near future. Thus, a loan move to a Championship club in Queen’s Park might be perfect for him, to develop his game and gain some experience in Scottish football.
Queen’s Park have made a bright start to the season as well and it looks like they could find themselves competing for promotion to the Premiership this time around. Let’s see if Kenny can play a big part in their campaign.
Kenny is no stranger to first-team football, having played quite a bit for Sligo Rovers, and he impressed at the youth and developmental levels for Celtic as well.
