Celtic fans must have been watching with delight as Hibernian scored late on against a 9-man Rangers side, to finish the game as a 2-2 draw. It meant that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side dropped a couple of points and it gives the Hoops the chance to open up a gap at the top of the table. Of course, they will have their work cut out for them, when they come up against Hearts at Parkhead.

Hearts are a difficult side to get past for sure, and have given Ange Postecoglou’s side a tough time in the past, even beating them last season. Thus, the result of that game is far from a foregone conclusion and Celtic will have to work to get all three points.

Coming back to the Rangers’ draw though, one of those sent off was Alfredo Morelos. Not a massive surprise considering how many times he has received red cards over the years. The other one went to John Lundstram.

It has also raised questions about his status for the upcoming Glasgow Derby though. Celtic will face the Rangers at Parkhead on September 3.

Morelos’ status for upcoming game against Celtic after receiving red card

As reported by The Herald, Rangers will not be without Morelos and Lundstram for next month’s derby against Celtic, as things stand. The rules regarding suspensions on the Scottish FA website state that serious foul play and violent conduct incidents constitute a two-game ban. Of course, nothing can be fully confirmed until the referees report is received by the SFA.

Thus, it appears that unless something unexpected happens, the Rangers will have Morelos and Lundstram available to face Celtic next month.

Of course, considering Morelos’ record in the Glasgow Derby over the years, most Celtic fans will not be devastated by that news. Let’s see how things go from here.
