The Celtic rumour mill has been dominated by the name of Sead Haksabanovic over the past couple of days. It looks like the Montenegro international star is on the verge of leaving Rubin Kazan, just a year after joining them for a transfer fee believed to be around £6 million. Parkhead seems to be his most likely destination as well.

Several rumours have suggested that Celtic have already managed to agree a transfer fee with Rubin Kazan and Haksabanovic could end up undergoing his medical before completing a move to Parkhead soon.

While initially there was no clear update on the exact transfer fee, it was believed that it would be lower than the £6 million that Rubin Kazan were believed to have shelled out to sign Haksabanovic last summer. But now, it looks like it could be much lower than anybody could have anticipated.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have agreed to sign Haksabanovic. The player is undergoing a medical in London today as he puts the finishing touches to a near £2 million move.

Celtic could be set to sign Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan in huge cut-price deal

If the figures are indeed accurate, then it looks like Celtic could end up signing Haksabanovic for a third of the transfer fee that Rubin Kazan were believed to have shelled out to sign him last summer.

Of course, there are multiple factors at play here. On one hand, Haksabanovic is training on his own right now and an exit seems inevitable. Secondly, he did not enjoy a great campaign with Rubin Kazan, and was also sent out on loan. And finally, the Russian club were relegated from the top flight last season.

As a result, Celtic might have found themselves at the right place, at the right time. Now, it remains to be seen if they are able to get the deal over the line or not. It does seem very likely.
