Ange Postecoglou has kept his starting XI the same for the last two games but we may see a change in the middle of the park for Celtic against Hearts this weekend. The Hoops have already had to deal with multiple injury problems but have been handed a boost in that regard.
Postecoglou has confirmed that Reo Hatate is fit and in contention for selection again in the upcoming match against Hearts.
Hatate missed the past couple of games after picking up some knocks in the season opener against Aberdeen. It is believed that he was fit last weekend but was left out keeping the artificial surface at Rugby Park in mind.
Although Celtic have won all their games so far this season, there have been times when the midfield maybe needed a boost in the last couple of matches. Aaron Mooy did well when he came on against Kilmarnock and allowed Callum McGregor to play a more forward role, giving a bit more pace to the passing. But Hatate could well be the man to put in from the start against Hearts.
Postecoglou should start Celtic midfielder against Hearts
Hatate made an impressive start to pre-season with some great performances and goals. His energy seems to be back, after he had seemed to be struggling towards the end of last season, and he has been able to make a significant contribution while on the pitch.
Last season he scored a great goal away at Tynecastle Park. So it’s unlikely that the Hearts side will be keen to see him on the ball anywhere near scoring range.
His drive and range of passes could also help open up what is likely to be a defensive formation from Hearts. They play at Parkhead after having lost against FC Zurich in mid-week in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League qualifier.
With a narrow 2-1 loss away though, they’ll most likely have one eye on their second leg match in Edinburgh.
Celtic are expected to play their usual pressing style of football throughout the 90 minutes. Expect to see Hatate feature strongly against Hearts, and should be in the starting XI if he is fit enough.
