Celtic already have added to a squad that won the Premiership and League Cup double last season. While the departures of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton might have come as blows, the Hoops have managed to hold onto Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda, while bringing in players like Aaron Mooy, Benjamin Siegrist, Alexandro Bernabei permanently and Moritz Jenz, on loan from Lorient.

The suggestion has been that Celtic are still active though and will sign a player or two more, if the right ones become available.

The club were linked with a move for Sead Haksabanovic earlier, although the rumours led nowhere. Now though, it looks like they are back in the race to sign him, as the Montenegro international star looks almost certain to leave Rubin Kazan this summer.

As reported by Mark Hendry in Football Scotland, Celtic have looked at Haksabanovic as an option this summer. He is believed to be interested in the move as well and there have been rumours of a transfer fee being reduced to accommodate the player and his desire to leave.

Celtic handed massive Haksabanovic transfer boost

Haksabanovic is 23 years of age and very versatile, although he plays mostly as a left winger. Rubin Kazan are believed to have shelled out a transfer fee around €6.5 million to sign him last summer, after his incredible spell at IFK Norrkoping.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haksabanovic scored 21 goals and provided 25 assists in 76 appearances across all competitions for IFK Norrkoping.

It is safe to say that things have not worked out at Rubin Kazan though. He is believed to be training on his own at the moment and is almost certain to leave the Russian club this summer.

One has to wonder though, whether Celtic need another left winger at the moment. That is Jota’s best position, while Maeda plays there regularly as well. Perhaps, bringing someone in on the opposite flank would be better to provide competition to Liel Abada.
