Celtic have had a lot of talented players on loan over the years but very few had the hype surrounding them that Charly Musonda had while coming through the youth ranks at Chelsea. He was considered by many as the next big hope of Belgian football and the heir to Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, Musonda’s career has not gone as was expected. In fact, it is extremely sad how wrong things have gone for the talented Belgian, who had all the talent in the world to be a top player but has struggled badly with injuries over the years.
He made his last senior appearance for a club back in 2019, when he was on loan at Vitesse Arnhem. Since then, he has made a few appearances at the youth level for Chelsea but never at the first-team level, and ultimately ended up departing the club at the end of last season, bringing an end to a decade-long run at Stamford Bridge.
The situation of Musonda has been up in the air since then, as his injury history means that not a lot of clubs would have been keen on taking a risk on the Belgian, but finally, he has found his next home.
Former Celtic loan star finally makes his return to football
Levante have announced on their official website that they have signed Musonda until 2024 with the option to extend the contract for two more seasons.
That is great news to say the least. Despite it feeling like he has been around for ages, Musonda is still just 25 and still has the time to turn his career around, if he can remain fit, which has been his major problem over the years.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Musonda scored no goals and provided 1 assist in his 8 appearances for Celtic.
