Celtic have done well, when it comes to making signings this summer. While the first-team might not look drastically different this season, one has to remember that they have permanently signed Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda, as they were only on loan last season. Those are extremely important moves to keep the core of the double-winning side together.

On the other hand, the club have also added new faces in the form of Aaron Mooy, Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist and Moritz Jenz, who is on loan from Lorient. The German centre-back has already made an impact on the first-team, while we are yet to see much of the other three.

One player that Celtic have been linked with for quite some time is Bristol City’s Antoine Semenyo, who has caught the eye with his performances for the Robins in the Championship. But a move to Parkhead is starting to seem unlikely.

As reported by The Guardian, Crystal Palace are among the Premier League clubs pursuing Semenyo, while Everton have also made a tentative inquiry for the striker this summer. Bournemouth have already had a transfer bid rejected. Bristol City are determined to keep him though and will look for a transfer fee worth around £20 million, inclusive of add-ons, if they are to part ways.

While Celtic have been linked with Semenyo for months, it is hard to see them being able to beat competition from clubs like Everton and Crystal Palace, or being able to shell out that kind of a transfer fee.

While Semenyo might be a tremendous signing, the Hoops do not have a lack of quality options up top at the moment.

We saw a great example of that vs Kilmarnock, as both Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis found the back of the net, and they have been in superb form for a while.
