Ange Postecoglou confirms concerning Celtic injury update

Last season, Celtic’s biggest problem was their long list of injuries. Several key players spent significant time out on the sidelines and it was incredible that the club managed to win the Premiership and League Cup double despite their clear lack of depth in the squad, especially in the first half of the campaign.

The picture is quite different now, as Celtic have strengthened the squad significantly and have pretty decent cover in most areas of the pitch.

Injuries have still remained a problem though and we have already seen a number of players having to spend time out on the sidelines, just two games into the new season. One such player is Yosuke Ideguchi and it looks like he could be out for a while yet.

Ideguchi picked up an injury in training, which required stitches, and it looks like he is not close to a comeback yet. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Ange Postecoglou said about the Japanese midfielder’s situation:

"“Ideguchi is still a fair bit off and in rehab.“He got a fair few stitches in his leg that need to be taken out.“It’s going to be a bit of a process with him, but he’s back at the club now doing his individual work.”"

Celtic player could be out for a while

The signing of Ideguchi in January was a curious one. He had enjoyed a meteoric rise early on in his career but had faded away after a move to Leeds United failed to work out.

Also, he was not coming off a brilliant season in Japan, like Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate were. Thus, it was a signing pretty much based on potential and not form. Till now, it has not worked out at all.

He has been extremely unlucky as well though. He suffered an injury early on in his Celtic career, which kept him out for a while and prevented him from getting a foothold in the team upon arrival. And now, he has suffered another injury, just when there were hopes that he could get the chance to show what he is capable of.
