Celtic have added a lot of quality to their senior squad already this summer by signing Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda permanently after their tremendous loan spells last season, while also bringing in new quality in Alexandro Bernabei, Benjamin Siegrist, Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz, on loan from Ligue 1 side Lorient. And now, they have added to their youth ranks as well.

Celtic FC B tweeted out announcing that the club have signed a new goalkeeper in Josh Clarke, on a two-year deal.

Clarke joins from Northern Irish club Glenavon FC. He is just 18 years of age and has been with the Bournemouth and Chelsea youth teams in the past

While yet to make his international debut, which should not come as a surprise considering his age, Clarke has been involved in the Northern Ireland national team squad. Thus, it is safe to say that the future looks very bright for the youngster and rumours suggest that he was wanted by several Premier League clubs, before completing a move to Celtic.

Celtic beat competition from Premier League clubs to complete signing of goalkeeper

Joe Hart is currently the undisputed starter for Celtic but Ange Postecoglou has a brilliant option on the bench in the form of Benjamin Siegrist, who was one of the best in the Premiership during his time at Dundee United. And the Hoops also have Scott Bain as well.

Thus, it is hard to see Clarke making an impact on the first-team any time soon with those goalkeeping positions already well covered.

His arrival does bring healthy added competition for places with Tobi Oluwayemi at Celtic B team level though. And hopefully, it will result in them both becoming better players and eventually rise up through the ranks to make a mark on the senior level in the future.
