It is safe to say that it is not often that Celtic receive praise from Kris Boyd. The former Rangers star does often appear to see things through blue tinted glasses but on this occasion, he has given credit where credit is due, as the Hoops have won both of their Premiership games till now and sit at the top of the table ahead of the Ibrox.

Celtic managed to get a 2-0 win vs Aberdeen in the opening game of their league season, as they look to defend the title against the Rangers. Then they went away and got a 3-1 win over Ross County, in what was a difficult game for the Hoops.

On the other hand, the Rangers have won both of their games till now as well and the expectation is that this title race will go right down to the wire, with both teams seeming to be quite close to each other at the moment. Celtic won the title last year by four points.

Boyd seems to have been impressed with what he has seen from the Hoops and a number of their players. As reported by Football Scotland, he told Sky Sports:

"“Ange Postecoglou’s had a period of time, unlike last season, to work with the players and to gel them into the way he wants to play.“If you look at how their full-backs play, they’re more like central midfielders.“That comes from putting in the graft on the training field and you can see that Celtic are reaping the benefits from that.“Obviously, Kyogo is back and that gives them a different dimension up front. (Giorgos) Giakoumakis is a handful but their star man right now is Jota.“Kilmarnock will have to be very wary of him and I’m sure it’ll be a challenge that Derek McInnes will be looking forward to.”"

Even Boyd has had to praise Celtic after their start to the season

There is no question about the fact that Celtic find themselves in a very good place right now and must be happy with how things have been going for them ever since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager.

They won the Premiership and League Cup double last season without any expectations surrounding them, having finished 25 points behind the Rangers and trophyless in the 2020/21 campaign.

In terms of players, the clear standout this season till now has been Jota. He scored a wondergoal vs Aberdeen and then assisted all three of Celtic’s goals vs Ross County. The Portuguese winger just seems to be on a different level right now. Long may it continue.
