Interesting Dele Alli to Celtic transfer rumour emerges

Celtic appear to be in search of another attacking midfielder this summer, in order to replace Tom Rogic, who left the club at the end of last season. They do have Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull capable of playing there, but might be looking to make another addition, especially since there is not an abundance of options in the middle of the park and a couple of injuries could prove disastrous.

Over the last few days, they have been linked with Ross Barkley of Chelsea, as well as Alex Collado of Barcelona. And now, there is another big name player that they might hold an interest in.

Rumours doing the rounds are that Dele Alli is a player that Celtic might have an interest in signing on a season-long loan. The Englishman has struggled badly over the past couple of years and is yet to produce a goal or an assist for Everton, since joining them from Tottenham Hotspur.

As reported by The Sun, Everton are due to shell out a £10 million fee to Tottenham Hotspur if Alli makes 20 appearances. And it is believed that the Toffees are ready to let him go before any potential add-ons kick in.

Would a move for Alli make sense for Celtic?

It is safe to say that Alli has been nowhere near his best for a long time now. Thus, any move would come with its fair share of risk.

At the same time though, one has to remember that this is a player who had taken the Premier League by storm as a teenager. And he was not a one-season wonder either. He was superb for several seasons for Tottenham Hotspur, mostly under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, but has lost his way in recent years.

Could someone like Ange Postecoglou get the best out of him? He has already shown what he can do with underperforming players. Jota is a prime example.

Thus, a loan move for Alli might make sense, if Everton end up paying the majority of his wages. If it works out, Celtic have one of the biggest talents that England have produced in years. If it does not, he just goes back to The Toffees at the end of the campaign.
