Celtic have been linked with a move for Barcelona attacking midfielder, Alex Collado, recently. The youngster was very highly rated while coming through the ranks at Camp Nou but has failed to make his mark at the senior level. He spent the previous campaign out on loan at Granada. Now 23 years of age, it looks like he might be looking for a move away from the club.

While Collado has not been able to make much of an impressive at the senior level till now, many would compare his position to the one that Jota found himself in at the start of last season.

As a result, it would be a huge mistake to count someone with the potential of Collado out without seeing them in action first. Ange Postecoglou has shown already that he has a way of getting the best out of players, who might have been underperforming elsewhere. At the same time though, it looks like that might not be on the cards at all.

As tweeted out by Adria Albets, out of all the proposals that Collado has, the one from Elche attracts him the most. On the other hand, as tweeted out by Albert Roge, Elche are the best placed to sign him and it is advanced. Girona, Real Valladolid, AlmerĂa, Celtic and Olympiacos also want him.

This will come as a major blow for Celtic without a shadow of a doubt. While Collado might not have exactly been a superstar at the senior level, he has a lot of attributes that could be a great fit in Postecoglou’s system.

Of course, his creativity and dribbling ability are well worth mentioning, but most interesting is his relentless work rate and pressure off the ball.

It is not hard to see why Celtic might be interested in signing the Barcelona attacking midfielder. They might have a tough time doing that though.
