Celtic offered chance to sign impressive Chelsea player
Celtic have enjoyed a very good summer transfer window till now. Not only have they managed to keep the core of their double winning team from last season together, but they have also done a great job of adding to their ranks. Yet, it looks like the Hoops will still be active over the coming weeks and could bring in a few more new faces to Parkhead if the circumstances are ideal.
One major worry that Celtic still have is that they have not managed to replace Nir Bitton, who departed at the end of last season. The only midfielder that the club have signed this summer till now is Aaron Mooy and he does not have similar attributes to the Israeli international.
Thus, Celtic would do well to bring in a more defensive-minded midfielder, and they appear to have a chance to sign Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu.
As reported by The Athletic, Chelsea will sanction another season-long loan deal for Ampadu this campaign. Clubs in England, Italy, Germany and Spain are monitoring the Welsh international star’s situation.
Why the Chelsea player could be a great addition to this Celtic side
Ampadu might have never managed to establish himself in the Chelsea first-team but he has played quite a bit of senior football over the past couple of years on loan at Venezia and Sheffield United.
One of the best things about Ampadu is that he is very versatile and capable of playing in both defensive midfield and central defence, similar to Bitton.
On top of that, another incredible attribute he has is his calmness and quality on the ball. That would go a long way in Postecoglou’s style of football where you are expected to have a lot of the ball. Also, a loan move would suit Celtic, having already shelled out quite a bit on transfer fees this summer.
