It’s already been a busy transfer window at Celtic, with several signings made and a few players moving out on loan or permanently. Ange Postecoglou has appeared to indicate though that while he is pleased with the moves that the Hoops have made, they might still look to bring in a few more new faces.

So while the the expectations are to see another new player or two arrive at Parkhead, not many were perhaps expecting an attacking midfielder from Barcelona to be linked with Celtic. Yet that is exactly what is happening.

Alex Collado was linked with a move to Celtic a few years back when Neil Lennon was still the manager of the club. Since then, his career has not shown much growth and yet, it looks like he might be back on the Hoops’ radar.

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have made an enquiry for Collado, who is attracting the interest of a number of European clubs including Olympiacos:

Barcelona are going through financial difficulties at the moment and might need to let a number of their players go. This might open up the opportunity for Celtic to pull of a move for Collado.

Collado has come through the famed youth setup of Barcelona, and was very highly rated as a youngster, but has not been able to break into the first-team plans, only making a couple of senior appearances.

He is a very skilful player though and could excite the Parkhead crowd, bring goals and assists to this team and be a good fit in Postecoglou’s system.

Last summer he was linked with moves to VfB Stuttgart and Club Brugge, which didn’t come off. Collado then spent time on loan at Granada, where he did not particularly shine. At 23 years of age though, he needs to find a club where he will get some regular football.
