Celtic must learn key lesson from another Rangers comeback

Sometimes to get better, you must learn from even your biggest rivals, and it might be time for Celtic to take a note out of the Rangers’ book. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side pulled off another extraordinary comeback in Europe to make the Champions League qualifier play-offs. The Ibrox side came into the second leg against Royale Union SG 2-0 down but managed to win 3-0 in their own backyard.

This is not the first time that they have done it either. Their home and away form in Europe have been a complete contrast. They have been terrible away and brilliant at Ibrox. They used this to their advantage to make it to the Europa League final last season.

This is one area where Celtic will need to improve drastically. The Hoops have to turn Parkhead into a fortress if they are to make advancements in Europe.

There is no hiding from the fact that Celtic have struggled in Europe in recent times, despite their dominance in domestic competitions. And one of the biggest reasons behind that is the fact that too many teams have managed to come to Parkhead and get positive results.

Celtic will be in the Champions League this season and are expected to come up against some of the biggest teams in the world.

Thus, it might be a great chance for them to test themselves and see where they are as a team. Of course, fixing their home record in Europe and learning to advance beyond the group stage is not going to be an overnight process. But at the same time, small steps can lead to big strides in the future and that is what they must target this season. To take small steps forward against top opposition in the Champions League.

It remains to be seen if the Rangers are able to make the group stage of the Champions League. In the play-offs, they will be facing PSV Eindhoven.
